Base Bob 2 Freeze Pass, Max Swing 651

Coaching Points

LT: Fake Bob 2 freeze. pass pro inside to head up to away.

LG: Fake Bob 2 freeze, vs. Odd step playside towards NT eyeing inside backer. If nothing shows hinge back and look to seal backside.

C: Fake Bob 2 freeze. vs. Odd pass pro NT, you have help from one or both guards. Don’t give ground, A is on shallow drop.

RG: Fake Bob 2 freeze.  Vs. Odd step down inside, look to pass pro 2 gap and help out C on NT or help Bob on blitzing backer.

RT: Fake Bob 2 freeze, occupy head-up to outside to inside, on. Block to outside number of rusher; you have help inside.  Be wide.

Abe: Freeze step open right.  Look past dive read to #2.  Ride Bob thru the fake.  Pull the ball and step down the line behind Bob, then step back from LOS.  Read #2 to #1 to FS.

Primary receiver is Y, then Z then X.  Check off is to Chad on the swing.

Reading #2 on the Y corner, look for him to step forward.  If #2 doesn’t get depth by your dive fake check #1.  If he isn’t getting depth under the corner look to throw the corner on your step back. If #2 is getting out on the corner, check #1. If he’s staying with the flat you can either look at the FS and see if the post is there or just dump to the Chad on the swing route if you don’t have time. Last resort, tuck the ball and run to daylight; especially if EMOLOS and #1 have dropped under the wide routes there should be a seam outside the RT .

If EMOLOS crashes in read #1 and throw the flat or swing accordingly.

Bob: Dive route, crash the 2 hole and look to help out with pass protection at the LOS. If nothing shows help RT inside or step around RT and look to seal outside.

Chad: Freeze step to fake option, then run swing to the playside.  You’re the check-off route so expect to see the ball as a hot receiver on a blitz, or if #1 fills against option.

X: Inside release, 6 route. (6 step post).  Look to hold the FS in the middle of the field.  If he vacates playside expect the ball.

Y: You’re the key on this play.  Inside release, attack the #2.  Slip block him and take off for the corner right away.  Expect the ball to be thrown as you’re slip blocking so get your head around right away as you break to the corner.  If you see the FS coming across playside expect the ball to be thrown more towards the sideline.  If you see #1 getting depth under your route, try to stay over the top of him, and expect the ball to be thrown to Zack underneath.

Zack: Release to the flat, slip block the #1 if he plays run and look to catch the ball over your upfield shoulder.  If #1 fills aggressively look to get the ball sooner than later.
