Base Zack Left Bob 1 Freeze Pass Max Swing 961

Vs. Odd

Coaching Points:

LT: Playside to head up to away on.  Do not block end man on line of scrimmage (EMOLOS) or #2.

LG: Head up to away to playside on. Look to double with C.  Make it look like Bob 1 freeze, but don’t be too anxious to unclog the 1 hole.  You may have to come back off NG to help with LB.

C: Head up to away to playside on. Away off. Look to double with LG.

RG: Inside to head-up to away, on. Inside to head-up to away off.  Hard playside.  Step towards LB but don’t go downfield.

RT: Inside to head-up to away, on. Inside to head-up off.  Hard playside.

Abe: Freeze step; open to left. Ride the Bob on the fake dive, then step back behind him and go thru your pass reads.  Checking #1 (CB) to see if he hesitates and lets X get behind him on the 9.  If so, check FS.  If he hasn’t come off the hash then look to make a quick throw to the X on the 9 route.  If the FS comes off the hash for the 9 check the Y on the 6 route behind him.  Does he have the angle on the SS?  If the FS stays on the hash and the CB goes with the 9 look for Zack on the 1 route.  If the LB drops under the 1 route then look to dump off to Chad on the swing, or tuck the ball and run.  Last option: if you have time, Zack will covert the 1 to a fade when he gets wide enough, can you go over the LB to him at the sideline?

Bob: Attack 1 Gap hard, crash the LB if he comes.  Otherwise pull up and help seal the line for pass protection.

Chad: Freeze step, convert your pitch route into a swing route.  If OLB drops with Zack expect the ball.

X: Outside release, 9 pattern.  Stay outside and make the FS come off the hash to get you.

Y: Inside release, 6 route.  Get inside position on the SS.  If the FS goes to get the 9, work up behind him and expect the ball over your left shoulder.

Zack: Quick motion left. Wide release into a 1 route.  If you get within 5 yards of the sideline and the ball hasn’t been thrown turn up the sideline – automatic out and up.
